Climate Change Resilience and Sustainability in Healthcare

This programme has been developed with the intent to guide and sensitize healthcare organizations towards becoming climate change resilient and environmentally sustainable. This scheme also aims to handhold and uplifts the capacity of the healthcare organizations to cope with the upcoming events/disasters related to climate change through continuous self-assessment.

  • Quality Care, Patient Safety, and Climate Preparedness:
    The programme ensures delivery of safe, high-quality care with integrated preparedness for climate-related health risks and emergencies.
  • Risk Assessment and Climate Resilience:
    It enables hospitals to systematically assess risks and plan, implement, and monitor strategies to become climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable organisations.
  • Trained Workforce and Effective Response:
    Emergencies and critical situations are managed efficiently by trained and competent staff following defined protocols.
  • Community Trust and Confidence:
    The programme enhances public confidence by positioning the hospital as a reliable and responsive healthcare provider during emergencies and disasters.
  • Institutional Preparedness for Climate Impacts:
    It strengthens the hospital’s overall readiness to anticipate, respond to, and recover from the health impacts of climate change.

  • Presently the scheme is open only for NABH accredited healthcare organizations and in due course this scheme will be available for NABH certified HCOs also, the announcement of which will be made on the official website of NABH
  • The hospital must commit to comply with NABH Self-Assessment checklist for climate change resilience and sustainability in healthcare and all applicable legal/ statutory/ regulatory requirements.
  • All aspiring healthcare organisations seeking certification under this programme can apply online by registering on the NABH website. Please refer to the General Information Brochure available on NABH website, the path of which is – under Accreditations, Certifications & Empanelments → NABH Self Certification Scheme for Climate Change Resilience and Sustainability in HealthCare → Documents section for more details.

    Certification Fee for two years: INR 11000/- plus GST (one time). Fees once paid will be non-refundable.
